Volume 2 only . Book size - 7.5 x 4.75 inches, pp. 356 + 4 (publisher's ad), hardback. Book condition - Good plus ; paste-downs and flyleaves slightyly tanned, inner hinges re-inforced with a narrow paper strip, initial pages of textblock a bit dusty but the remainder clean, ink inscription on the flyleaf - " H. [?] Hooper F.S.A. , Town Clerk of Cowbridge, 24/12/1851", binding firm ; dark grey cloth (probably a later re-bind from years ago) with a red leather and gilt title label laid on to the spine ; fore-edge corners show some rubbing but remaining sound, boards' edges with cloth intact, back with some general marking but nothing disfiguring, spine complete with ends showing some creasing and a few minor nicks, title label shows some wear and the gilt is dulled but remains legible, front again with general age marking. The contents of this volume are letters numbered XXII to XXXI, to Robert Southey, and cover a wide range of subjects - Earl Orgar, Ethelwold, Monachism, Saint Rumon, Benefactors of Tavistock, A Favourite Cat, the Parish Clerk, The Tavy, Francis Drake, . etc.
