8vo(22.2x11.4) HB 4th edition: viii+190pp illus + 7 fold-out engraved plates. Expertly rebound in nuc-brown leather with 5 raised bands & gilt lettering to red leather spine label-near fine. there is an inscr to the top of the title page dated 1840. The original pages, as might be expected, are age-discoulred with some foxing but all text & illus are still clear. Much earlier repairs to closed tears have been made and the ghost of these can be seen on some pages however, considering the book is nearly 300 years old it is in remarkable condition. (315g).
