Descriptive Language Model of Filipino Online Verbal Aggression: Use of Invective in Online Verbal Aggression in Political Discourse

The contemporary digital landscape in the Philippines is marked by intense political polarization and widespread online verbal aggression (OVA). This pervasive culture of anger, while occasionally fostering accountability, often devolves into unproductive conflict, highlighting a critical gap in our understanding of digital communication ethics. This book by Dr. Galahad Randall Unciano addresses this gap directly. This compelling document introduces the Descriptive Language Model of Filipino Online Verbal Aggression (DLM-FOVA). Unciano presents a systematic, interdisciplinary framework that meticulously documents and categorizes the linguistic nuances and sociopolitical motivations behind aggressive online discourse. The DLM-FOVA provides invaluable pragmatic and sociolinguistic insights, demonstrating how social identity and communicative intent shape linguistic form within a specific digital speech community. This work is a foundational resource for applied linguistics, sociology, and social psychology.
