Una prolongada estancia en el monasterio de Veruela necesariamente se deb�a traducir en una amplia producci�n art�stica, pl�stica y literaria, de los dos hermanos B�cquer. Las pinturas y textos de Valeriano y Gustavo Adolfo B�cquer componen un notable "corpus" que ha hecho del monasterio de Veruela uno de los espacio becquerianos por excelencia. Las cartas que componen "Desde mi celda" testimonian el decisivo papel desempe�ado por ese entorno cisterciense en el paso a la madurez personal de Gustavo Adolfo. Son cartas que implican un doble viaje: f�sico y simb�lico, con su ida y su vuelta. El primero le llev� de Madrid a Veruela donde vivir�a la experiencia l�mite de la cercan�a de la muerte, recuperando despu�s la salud y regresando a la Corte. El segundo le condujo desde los sue�os de triunfo y de gloria hasta el deseo de aniquilaci�n total, para recuperar despu�s un tono de moderada conformidad con las limitaciones de la existencia.
