David Rothermel's Desert Dialogues is a remarkable construct that effectively unites two forms of human expression—poetry and painting. David Rothermel was born in Sunbury, Pennsylvania, a small town located along the confluence of the north and west branches of the Susquhanna River. He first studied art at York Academy of Art in York, PA. He later went on to study at and graduate from the prestigious Pennsylvania Academy of Art. Two of his summers were spent in Maine at the much coveted Skowhegan School of Painting, studying under preeminent American masters. He moved to New Mexico in 1981 and took a job as an art director for an outdoor advertising company. His yearning for painting on a large scale was fulfilled until he fell from scaffolding, breaking both arms. After completing his recovery, David reset his career back on track as a professional artist. Among the many solo gallery and museum exhibitions David's works are represented in galleries in Santa Fe, Scottsdale, Aspen, and Washington, D.C. Selected collections of his work are held by General Motors Corporation, 3M Corporation, Revlon, Union Pacific, the Wyeths' Farnesworth Museum's permanent collection, the Butler Institute of American Art, the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Art, and the New Mexico Museum.
