With the theme Design for Democracy. Atmospheres for a better life, Frankfurt RheinMain holds the title of World Design Capital® 2026. Our motto "Let us design how we want to live" is an invitation to actively participate in shaping our living spaces and our democracy. Design has the power to shape collective processes, develop inclusive solutions and bring about social change. Ten guest authors address the ten fields of action of "Design for Democracy": Construction & Housing, Consumption, Culture & Media, Education, Health, Industry, Mobility, Public Space, Sport, Work.

Matthias Wagner K is one of the outstanding German-speaking representatives in the fields of design mediation and design curating. After many years of successful freelance work as an exhibition organizer, biennial director, art and design curator, editor and author, he has been director of Frankfurt’s Museum Angewandte Kunst since 2012. Wagner K has been teaching design curating at the HfG Offenbach since 2015/16 as part of a teaching assignment, and since June 2018 he has been an honorary professor in the Design Curating and Criticism theory program. Anna Scheuermann is Chief Program Officer of the World Design Capital 2026.
