Design and Performance for Deep Foundations: Piles and Piers in Soil and Soft Rock : Proceedings of Sessions Sponsored by the Communities on Deep Fo

Deep foundation design is an area of civil engineering which is undergoing rapid development based on improvements in numerical analysis and the execution of well- defined field tests and carefully composed laboratory testing programs. Here, eighteen peer-reviewed papers present recent studies on the behavior of and advances in the design of deep foundations, including driven piles and drilled piers, in soil and soft rock, onshore and offshore. Contributions feature the use of in-situ tests in design; recent studies on the full-scale field behavior of pile groups and installation of driven piles; and the design and construction of drilled shaft foundations in hard soils and soft rock.
