The Design of Mine Structures, written by Milo Smith Ketchum and originally published in 1912, is a comprehensive guide to designing structures for mines. The book covers a wide range of topics related to mine structures, including the properties of materials commonly used in construction, the principles of structural analysis, and the design of specific types of structures such as headframes, hoisting plants, and ventilation systems.Throughout the book, Ketchum emphasizes the importance of safety in the design of mine structures. He provides detailed instructions for calculating the loads that various structures must be able to withstand, and offers practical advice for ensuring that structures are built to withstand the harsh conditions of a mine environment. The Design of Mine Structures is written in a clear and concise style, with numerous illustrations and diagrams to help readers understand the concepts presented. While the book was originally written over a century ago, much of the information it contains is still relevant today, making it a valuable resource for engineers and others involved in the design and construction of mine structures. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
