About the Author
Donald E. Breyer, P.E., is a Professor Emeritus in the Department of Engineering Technology at California State Polytechnic University, Pomona, California. Kenneth J. Fridley, Ph.D., is a Professor in and Head of the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at University of Alabama, Tuscaloosa, Alabama. David G. Pollock, Jr., P.E., Ph.D., is an Associate Professor in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Washington State University, Pullman, Washington. Kelly E. Cobeen, S.E., is the Principal of Cobeen & Associates Structural Engineering, Lafayette, California. The authors all actively serve as members of the Wood Design Standards Committee of the American Forest and Paper Association, which is responsible for maintaining and revising the design provisions of the National Design Specification for Wood Construction. Ms. Cobeen is also a member of Technical Subcommittee 7, Wood Structures, of the Provisions Update Committee for the NEHRP Recommended Provisions for Seismic Regulations for New Buildings and Other Structures.
