Daher charakterisiert er immer in doppelter Weise eine materielle und symbolische Einheit. Der Schreibtisch ist nicht nur f�r sich gesehen sehr aufschlussreich, er muss auch immer im Kontext seines kulturellen, geschlechtsspezifischen und branchenbezogenen Umfelds untersucht und verstanden werden. Im Zentrum dieser Studie steht die vergleichende Analyse der Nutzung von Schreibtischen. Hierf�r wurden Schreibtische in Versicherungen, Banken, Verwaltungen, Call Centern und Designstudios in zw�lf L�ndern aus allen Kontinenten untersucht. Die Publikation stellt die Ergebnisse in umfangreichem Bildmaterial, empirischen Analysen und kritischen Essays vor. Durchgef�hrt wurde die Studie von der K�ln International School of Design (KISD) in Zusammenarbeit mit Universit�ten in Hongkong, New York, Seoul, Taipei, Curitiba (Brasilien), Puna (Indien), Auckland, Mailand, Fukuoka (Japan).
