Clean unfaded black cloth boards with deep pink decoration n cover, pink and blue lettering on spine. No bumping or wear. Binding is tight and square, hinges are sound - no cracking. Pages and edges are clean; previous owner name and address neatly penned at top corner of front pastedown under dust jacket flap; small notation about date read at top of title page. 303 pages. Clean dust jacket is unchipped, has slight wear at spine ends, a few short closed edge tears, very light rubbing. Nice full panel photo of author on rear of jacket. Enclosed in new archival quality removable mylar cover. Suppose a trio of desperate escaped convicts--vicious and frightened--simply took over your home? Then you'd be in the same dreadful predicament faced by the Hilliards, whose quiet suburban home was turned into a jungle lair. Made into a fine film noir starring Humphrey Bogart and Fredric March (1955), and then again in 1990 starring Mickey Rourke, Anthony Hopkins.
