The Destroyer: The Day Remo Died (Paperback or Softback)

The story that created The Destroyer comes to the graphic novel.

For more than half a century, Warren Murphy and Richard Sapir's legendary Destroyer novels have chronicled the adventures of Remo Williams, an ordinary man officially erased from existence and reborn as something extraordinary. Now, the formative stories that began the saga are brought together and adapted into a full-length graphic novel.

Remo Williams is a Newark cop framed for murder, sentenced to death, and executed by the State of New Jersey. Except Remo doesn't die.

His death is a carefully constructed deception. His old identity has been eliminated so that a secret organization can give him a new one-and a new purpose. Under the direction of the enigmatic Dr. Harold W. Smith, Remo is recruited into CURE, an organization created to protect America from threats the law cannot touch.

But first, Remo has to survive his teacher.

Chiun is the elderly, imperious Master of Sinanju, heir to an ancient Korean tradition that regards assassination as the highest form of public service. To Chiun, his new pupil is crude, impatient, over-muscled, badly fed, and very possibly unworthy of the secrets he has been chosen to inherit. What begins as training will push Remo beyond everything he believes possible-and toward a destiny neither man yet fully understands.

This landmark adaptation brings together the formative events of Created, The Destroyer and The Day Remo Died, weaving them into a single graphic-novel origin of Remo Williams: from condemned policeman to reluctant operative, student of Sinanju, and ultimately toward the mysterious figure foretold as Shiva, the Destroyer.

Faithful to the action, intrigue, dark humor, and unforgettable relationship between Remo and Chiun that made the novels a phenomenon, The Destroyer brings the original story of Warren Murphy and Richard Sapir's enduring adventure series to the graphic-novel form for a new generation-while giving longtime readers the chance to experience Remo's beginning in an entirely new way.

Remo Williams is dead. Long live the Destroyer.
