[preface dated 1856] c.p with 95 steel engraved plates in each volume. t.e.g. foredges lightly browned, new cream endpapers to both volumes, vol. 1 has gift inscription dated xmas 1925 to blank prelim, pp.3-7 have damp stain to lower corners and some foxing, plates have very slight marginal browning, very occasional minor mark otherwise very good. vol. 2. also damp affected lower corners from title page on to p.27. with some foxing of early leaves. plates have very slight marginal browning, very occasional minor mark otherwise very good. Both volumes recased in original decorative diced brown cloth with gilt titles to upper boards and spines and gilt borders to lower boards, boards rubbed, spines darkened, good.
