Item description from seller

Ugly reading copy. A glimpse into a preWWII textbook view of the world. Tight binding with slight tilt to spine. Age soiled exterior with edges rubbed through to boards. Pages have some folded corners and a few pages with pencil marks. Middle school age textbook with slightly larger type and colorful illustrations"planned to give the youthful reader an understanding of European civilization from the decline of Rome to the beginning of Modern Timesno effort has been spared to make this book authentic in the information which it presents.Convinced that textbooks have been given too much stress to the political and military phases of history, the authors of the Middle Ages have given greater emphasis to the social, economic, and geographical aspects." 406 pages with a "pronouncing" index, unit reviews and study exercises.
