Synopsis

Depression is a mental disorder that is presented by depressed mood, loss of interest or pleasure, decreased energy, feelings of guilt or low self-worth, disturbed sleep or appetite, and poor concentration. The reasons that the oral route achieved such popularity may be in part attributed to its ease of administration and the drug is well absorbed as the foodstuffs that are ingested daily. In fact, the development of a pharmaceutical product for oral delivery, irrespective of its physical form (solid, semisolid, or liquid dosage form), involves large extents of gastrointestinal (GI) physiology.
