Red cloth boards with gilt lettering and illustration; (5) (iii-v) 9-130pp; top text block is gilted; bookplates of previous owner on inside cover; inscription to previous owner and signed by the author on endpaper; bw illustrated frontispiece with intact tissue guard; 25 plates with printed tissue guard; page are untrimmed. This book concerns 16th century artists and schools of art, including Da Vinci, Michael Angelo and Raphael. Good+(Shelfwear; edges at foot of cover is slightly worn; corners are sharp at the head end; corners a bit worn at the foot end; there is a tear in the cloth at the head of the spine; rear inner hinge is cracked, but paper is holding; hinge is cracked in the middle of the text block; there is minor soiling from handling; there is some light age toning; first and last few pages are wrinkled, but no damp staining; in great condition for its age).
