Add to basketIn an attempt to address some of the concerns confronted in literature, this book takes a fresh perspective on developing countries such as India. The volume, comprising numerous contributions by well-known scholars and experts, provides a partial peep through a few windows to observe economic development. Focusing on five areas—aggregate economic development, agricultural development, irrigation development, poverty, and issues of governance—this record argues for the necessity of a holistic understanding of the economy and society in question as well as for the development of indigenous ways of thinking. It also touches upon promising themes of development both at micro and macro levels to legitimize the well-deserved places for the issues among the imminent problems.
