About the Author
Stephen Padgett is Professor of Politics at the University of Strathclyde. Among his books are Organizing Democracy in Eastern Germany and Interest Groups in Post-Communist Society.
William E. Paterson is Professor of German Politics and Director of the Institute for German Studies at the University of Birmingham. He is coauthor of Germany’s European Diplomacy: Shaping the Regional Milieu and coeditor of The Future of the German Economy.
Gordon Smith is Emeritus Professor of Government at the London School of Economics and Political Science. He is coeditor of the journal West European Politics.
