Struggles---everyone faces them. Many are commonplace finding a parking space, the internet is down, rising prices of necessities. Others are exceptional---the diagnosis of a serious disease, the death of a loved one, divorce. Regardless of the depth of the struggle encountered, feelings of fear, anger, and jealousy often arise. What are people to do with those feelings? How do they walk through the quotidian and the extraordinary events of life with faith? The twenty-four weeks of devotions contained here help readers learn how to confront these struggles with wisdom, joy, patience, and understanding. Already a source of hope and encouragement for many---in private use and group study---these timeless meditations will be used again and again by most readers, embarking on more than one New Beginning.
About the Author: Born in North Carolina in 1923, Hal M. Helms graduated from Furman University and earned an M. Div. from Hartford Seminary. He served five congregations and then in 1974 became Chaplain at the Community of Jesus, an ecumenical Christian Community on Cape Cod, Massachusetts. Rev. Helms “mildly modernized” a number of classics, including The Pilgrim's Progress, The Imitation of Christ, and The Confessions of St. Augustine, and wrote several devotional books. He died in 1997.
