Statistics show that the mortality of diabetes was three times as great in 1910 as it was in 1880. The treatment here outlined is built upon the supposition that the underlying causes of the weakened functioning of the pancreas is an intestinal toxemia, as explained in the intro ductory chapter. This belief is based upon re searches in which the writer is now engaged, complete findings of which will be reported at an early date. In the meantime, if this book aids in the reduction of the mortality of diabetes the author feels that he will be amply repaid for the labor and time expended thereon.
