Dialect and Literacy: An Examination of Language

Dialect and Literacy is recommended for anyone interested in exploring the intersection of speech and text. It delves into the history of language, but concentrates on the English language, particularly the uneasy relationships between standard English, and African-American dialect and Spanglish, and the challanges posed to literacy by electronic technology. It is particularly appropriate for English instructors and students.
