Dialogue on the Path of Initiation: An Introduction to the Life and Thought of Karlfried Graf Durckheim

Karlfried Graf Durckheim (1896-1988) was one of the foremost spiritual teachers of our age. Combining the insights and practices of Zen Buddhism wit hdepth psychology and Christian mysticism. he created a potent and practical way of inner work. In these talks, Durckheim shares the story of his life and the essence of this profound wisdom. He discusses his studies with C. G. Jung, D. T. Suzuki and others, and explains his method for making daily life into a spiritual exercise. These dialogues show us why, for over 40 years, pilgrims from all walks of life traveled to his center in the Black Forest, and found there the means of redeeming their own inner life.

Durckheim's extended discussions with Goettmann reveal a spiritual master's reflections on daily life as a way of personal formation leading to the manifestation of the divine. Durckheim (who died in 1988) discusses his life, including his awakening as he read the Tao-Te-Ching , his encounters with various spiritual traditions, his practice of psychotherapy, and his thoughts regarding Western civilization. Durckheim was a spiritual master who blended East and West and a catalyst for mystical experience in others. Recommended especially for seminary and public libraries.
