VG in orig. ivory wrapper. 176 p.; 19.5 cm. Papers delivered at the Convocation on Medicine and Theology, Rochester MN, 1967 From the Introduction: `The new emphasis asks us to see that religion is related to all of life and that we cannot be partial Christians. Perhaps nowhere is this better seen than in the human body. It is the seat of moral evil and of physical disease. Traditionally we have supposed that the clergyman attacked evil and the physician attacked disease. This may have been good enough in its day, but now that we see human life as a whole, we recognize that its treatment must be whole. The solution to moral evil can be approached by the psychiatrist; physical disorder may be eased by the minister.' Contents: Introduction, Fred G. Holloway -- Preface, Raymond D. Pruitt -- I. Contributions of medicine and theology to the health of man: a dialogue, Francis J. Braceland and J. Robert Nelson -- II. The Bible speaks to the health of man, Seward Hiltner -- III. The effects of specialization on the treatment of the whole man, Melvin A. Casberg -- IV. Working with persons in crises: an informal dialogue, Edward H. Rynearson and Edward M. Litin -- V. Medicine's scientific developments and resulting ethical problems, Joseph Fletcher -- VI. Toward continuing dialogue, Roy Nichols, Amos N. Johnson, and Howard J. Clinebell, Jr. -- A closing prayer, Raymond D. Pruitt -- Selected bibliography. Binding is Paperbound.…
