Some foxing; first leaf rubbed at corner, not affecting text; stab perforation near head of spine, likely for absent string hanger; very good. Scarce advertising booklet for "Diamond" brand eyeglasses, issued by the Spencer Optical Mfg. Co. of New York City, manufacturers of "Gold, Silver, Steel, and Plated Spectacles." Eight humorous and other illustration cuts (plus the cover art) tout the advantages and safety of Spencer Optical Mfg. Co.‘s products. A useful, one-page eye vision chart allows the reader to test their eyesight. The bulk of the pamphlet is given over to cooking recipes, a useful feature which encouraged the reader (and potential eyeglass consumer) to retain the company’s advertisement at hand. An ad on the back cover from Poughkeepsie, New York jeweler, W.S. Morgan, offers "Diamond Trade Mark Spectacles."
