Diary Of Ananda Ranga Pillai (Volume V)

Step into 18th century Pondicherry, where decisions made at a desk could shift empires. History speaks in daily entries. Diary Of Ananda Ranga Pillai (Volume V), edited by H. Dodwell, continues one of the most compelling colonial India journals ever kept: the Ananda Ranga Pillai diary. As a historical diary volume drawn from a key intermediary close to French power, it brings you into the grain of French India administration, the routines of the French East India Company, and the pressures of colonial trade diplomacy as they played out on the Coromandel Coast. Read as lived experience, it is vivid; used as evidence, it is exacting, supporting South Asian history research with the immediacy only a day-by-day record can offer. This volume stands as a cornerstone for Tamil Nadu colonial history and for readers tracing the Carnatic Wars firsthand accounts that shaped the region's politics, commerce, and alliances. It also belongs on the shelf of anyone building a complete diary collection or seeking a scholarly reference edition that complements classic histories with on-the-ground observation. For the curious general reader, it is a doorway into a world of negotiation, rivalry, and administration; for collectors, it is a major documentary monument of the period. Republished by Alpha Editions in a careful modern edition, this volume preserves the spirit of the original while making it effortless to enjoy today - a heritage title prepared for readers and collectors alike.
