Volume I only (of two). The diary of Englishman Samuel Pepys was begun in 1660 and has been described as Britain's most celebrated diary. This edition deciphered by the Rev. J. Smith, and edited by by Lord Braybrooke and with a note by Richard Garnett. Entry 53 in Everyman's Library 'Biography' series. --- A 1936 reprint edition, in Everyman's Library binding style 3 with full pink cloth and gilt-stamped spine titling; blindstamped Eric Ravilious-designed "shell" to cover & brown topstain. Volume lacks the dust jacket. --- With severely sunned spine (and barely readable spine titling), and a spot of soiling to back cover, else a clean, bright, firmly-bound copy.; 16mo (6 to 7 in. tall); ix, 666, 2, 8 (ads) pages.
