Dictionary of Computing

Drawing from every area of computing including software, hardware, networking, PCs, minicomputers, mainframes, the Internet and Web, multimedia, and programming, this is the most comprehensive dictionary available for this fast-growing field. Over 10,000 entries cover not just computing but also related fields. Complex terms such as PDA, Ethernet, and GUI are fully explained, as many sample programs are provided. This new edition is revised and includes all the latest terms and acronyms. Students will especially appreciate that the definitions are written using a simple vocabulary, and entries include quotations from computer magazines to show real-life usage. This can be used by people with only a basic command of English and limited knowledge of computers as well as professional programmers.

Simon Collin is author of The Dictionary of Information Technology, Dictionary of Multimedia, and Dictionary of Personal Computing and the Internet.
