This copy belonged to the historian and anthropologist James Clifford, whose father authored the introduction to this edition. Brown boards with gilt lettering. Rubbing along the spine and to the boards. Volume one has a bit more fading than its counterpart. Both volumes in very good condition. Comes with a folio sized pamphlet authored by Allen Reddick discussing the Sneyd-Gimbel copy of Johnson's dictionary. 250 copies of this keepsake were published for the Johnsonians in September of 1991.
