An extensive alphabetical reference to Old and Middle Irish. Old Irish is the earliest recorded stage of the Goidelic (or Gaelic) language family, spoken from roughly the 7th to the 10th century. It is the ancestral language that eventually split into modern Irish, Scottish Gaelic, and Manx. This is essentially the equivalent of the Oxford English Dictionary for the Irish language.
