This work provides a comprehensive and concise guide to Methodism in Britain and Ireland, in all its varied branches.
The Dictionary also contains biographical entries, ranging from eighteenth-century figures to those of the present. Methodism's ecumenical relationships - with the Church of England, the Free Churches and Roman Catholicism - are covered, and the reader will find definitions of all the technical terms used in the Methodist movement. The entries are fully cross-referenced and include a select guide to further reading.

John A. Vickers was a lecturer in Religious and Social Studies at the West Sussex Institute of Higher Education. He is a Senior Research Fellow at Westminster College, Oxford, where he also serves as the Wesley Historical Society's Librarian.
