Each entry provides the essential data: the war or campaign of which the battle was a part; the date it began; who commanded how many men on each side; the tactics and sometimes the weapons employed; who won; the casualties; and, where it could be determined, the ultimate outcome. In addition, Mr. Bruce has carefully cross-referenced the "Dictionary" to indicate, where appropriate, other battles associated with each entry.
