Moderate toning to text, light foxing to a few leaves, light soiling to title page, early owner signatures to front pastedown, head of title page and verso of title page. Ex-library. An interesting work for its attention to the legal principles underlying the crown's right to impose taxation and explanation of laws themselves, notably those applying to Great Britain's colonies. Our copy does not have the separately paginated appendix and index indicated in the ESTC. We found a copy identical to ours previously, however, and on OCLC. The collation of these copies is given in Sweet & Maxwell and Goldsmths'-Kress. This leads us to conclude that many copies were issued without the appendix and index.
