Digital Competition Law: Competition Law - Digital Markets Act - Platform Regulation

This textbook examines the protection of competition in digital markets. It presents both the fundamental principles and the sector-specific aspects of European and German competition law and covers the recently introduced Digital Markets Act and Platform Regulation. As the regulation of competition risks in digital markets has attracted increasing legislative and judicial attention, the book offers students and practitioners a comprehensive overview of the evolving field of ‘digital competition law.’

Sarah Legner is Professor of Civil Law and Business Law and Co-Director of the Institute of Business and Tax Law at Kiel University. She studied law at the University of Tübingen and completed her legal clerkship in Tübingen, Stuttgart and Bonn. After completing her doctoral thesis entitled “Schadenstheorien bei Nachfragemacht im deutschen und europäischen Kartellrecht” (University of Tübingen, 2019), she joined the University of Konstanz as a research assistant. In 2023, she completed her postdoctoral qualification (habilitation) with a thesis on multi-party contracts. Her current research focuses on sustainability issues in competition law and the effects of digitalization on consumer law. She is a member of the editorial advisory board of the journal KIR – Künstliche Intelligenz und Recht.
