We live in a world where almost every moment is captured, shared and viewed through a screen. Yet in our rush to record life, we may sometimes forget to experience it.
In this thoughtful and personal book, Palan takes us on a journey across Europe-not simply through places, but through moments of discovery, reflection and connection. Along the way, he explores what happens when we occasionally put the phone away, look around, and become fully present.
With his daughter Shrieeya joining him as co-author and bringing a younger traveller's perspective, The Digital Detox is more than a travel book. It is an invitation to slow down, notice the people and places around us, and rediscover the simple pleasure of being present in an increasingly digital world.
A warm and reflective journey that reminds us that sometimes, to see more of the world, we need to look beyond the screen.
An author who has worked at the intersection of education and entrepreneurship for more than four decades, Palan's interest in travel writing grew from a lifelong passion for learning, history and sharing experiences.A frequent traveller with a deep appreciation for literature, culture and the stories of people and places, he believes that every journey offers an opportunity to discover something-not only about the world we explore, but also about ourselves. The Digital Detox reflects his conviction that slowing down, embracing curiosity, and engaging with people, places and history can transform ordinary travel into a meaningful experience. Now enjoying the silver-haired chapter of his life, Palan has made a commitment to continue exploring the world-one destination at a time-with his wife, believing that some of life's best adventures are those shared with the people we love.More about his work can be found at palan.org.
