Digital Library Basics

Digital Library Basics: A Practical Manual is meant for researchers and librarians who want to digitize their paper documents, build up digital collections, organize them, and make them accessible through Internet. This manual explains, without technical jargon, the methods for developing and managing digital archives, digital libraries, and e-document collections, making them accessible with search mechanisms over the Internet. The book can help to create digital libraries/archives of full text, images, audio files, and video files, accessible over the Web using free software developed by UNESCO. The CD-ROM provided with the book includes a listing of all software, manuals, and materials required for practice.
