Digital Photography A New Introduction

A comprehensive introduction to the skills that students need to be successful digital photographers.

Digital Photography is unique among photography textbooks. Unlike other texts on the subject, Digital Photography combines technical lessons on using a digital camera and related technology with the creative and aesthetic concerns of producing beautiful images.

The lessons are presented in a logical order and have been tested by the authors in their own classrooms. In the first section, students are introduced to the camera and its controls; then, to digital capture, editing and manipulating images, and digital output. The second part of the book teaches students how to make great images in the main genres of photography.

Diprose and Robins have the depth of practical knowledge that can only be gained from decades in the field and have distilled it into a series of helpful tip boxes that cover such topics as fitting a UV filter to your camera to enhance color quality, shooting from a camera that is “tethered” directly to a computer, and photographing in such difficult environments as desert and coastal areas. 500+ in color and b&w

Graham Diprose is an advertising photographer who has taught undergraduate and graduate photography in the Faculty of Design at the London College of Communication and has created several exhibitions of digital photography.

Jeff Robins has been shooting advertising and commercial photography as a freelance professional for over thirty years, while also serving as a digital photography consultant and visiting lecturer at the London College of Communication.
