Original old calf binding, worn at corners and edges with front board loose and one stitching open, spine has thin vertical crease line, Contents have a little spasmodic foxing on several pages, the endpapers front and rear have a brown age line around borders. a bleed from the calf inside boards, the contents on hand-made rag paper is still firm and tight, SIZE: small octavo. *Armorial bookplate of "Almeric Hugh Paget 1st Baron Queensborough" inside front board. This title died with him in 1949 with no male heirs. He was a friend of Theodore Roosevelt, established the Dominion Coal Co in the USA where he lived for years, his 1st wife was heiress Pauline Melville Whitney, she died in 1916, he was a fine yachtsman and named the "Belvidere Cup" in 1913. His grandfather commanded the cavalry at Waterloo in 1815, later a politician, etc. *The book received glowing reviews and this 2nd edition [1st was 1790] may have been reprinted due to her 2nd book being released in 1792? In this continuation Rasselas becomes ruler of Abyssinia and lives a successful life.
