Although not quite a Baedeker's, this informative guide to dinosaur exhibits in the United States and Canada includes travel directions to each exhibit as well as its primary features, hours, fees, address, and telephone number. Advice on the minimum time needed to see each exhibit, ranging from 15 minutes to one day, is helpful if subjective. Additionally, metric/English conversions, a pronunciation guide for dinosaur names, and clear maps for locating most sites are nice touches. The geographical organization can be awkward, but the thorough table of contents helps. The index would have benefited from the use of cross references for alternative names (e.g., Smithsonian and National Museum of Natural History), and additional indexing by state or province would have been helpful. The guide emphasizes sites in the United States, with only a few Canadian sites included. This useful book is recommended for the travel section of any library serving dinophiles.
