In good condition. Boards show typical wear with occasional surface dirt and rubbing to edges. Corners are bumped, but not significantly. Gilt work remains present on front and rear boards/spine label. Label is still intact and beautifully handwritten. Bookplate on front paste down. Occasional small areas of worm damage throughout. does not hurt integrity of text or pages. Age toning to page edges. Most pages are quite clean. Binding tight and intact. Printed in two columns, Greek and Latin. Please see photos. With printer s mark in rear. Cassius Dio s Roman History covered 1000 years in 80 books. The original Estienne edition (1548), collects a fragment from a 15th century manuscript that covers books 36-60. This covers 36-80 with brief remarks at the rear on the other books. Cassius Dio was a Roman statesman and historian of Greek and Roman origin. The documents he published documented the subsequent founding of Rome (753 BC), the formation of the Republic (509 BC), and the creation of the Empire (27 BC), up until 229 A.D. Written in Ancient Greek over 22 years, Dio s works covers approximately 1,000 years of history.
