After the bombing of the Broadway theatre, The Dirty Briefcase delves into the international world of spies and espionage where nations must work together, and apart, to combat a new and unexpected source of global terrorism. In the tradition of Ian Fleming, newly promoted ASIO agent and explosives expert, Jack Fontaine, is sent to assist the CIA with their investigation into the terrorist attack. However, Jack already knows more information about the attack than the CIA does. Not wanting to reveal his source, he must coach his mentor, CIA agent Brad Johnson, by directing him to specific clues that will bring him up to speed. The taskforce is joined by MI6 agent Jessica White following another terrorist attack, this time in London. The three agents must work together to prevent a third attack, this time at a major sporting event in Australia. While Jack must deal with the enormous responsibility of protecting the interests of Australia, he starts to question his own ethics. Things were a lot simpler to deal with when he was a member of the Victorian Police. How will he respond when he comes face to face with the world's most wanted man, and discovers that he has developed the holy grail of terrorism; an atomic bomb housed in a briefcase.
