Julie has a problem: men leave her but they never tell her why. During a visit to her parents in the Pyrenees, she encounters a young tax inspector, who left her on the day of their engagement. Without telling her why. But those who have read the book know why!
Tell me why is also a portrait - the author would say in broad brush strokes - of a decaying, ludicrous, selfish, morality-obsessed and, as we find out at the end of the book, totally insane middle class.

Over four decades, Patrick Besson has been amassing a varied and multifaceted work which has won several prestigious literary awards, including of course Dara and Les Braban. He is also a journalist and active polemicist, at times murderously witty but always full of humour and empathy. He is a regular contributor to the French weekly news magazine Le Point.

Patrick Besson est n� � Paris en 1956. Il a obtenu le Grand Prix du roman de l’Acad�mie fran�aise pour Dara (1985) et le prix Renaudot pour Les Braban (1995). Il est chroniqueur au Point.
