Disaster! Around the Bend

Disaster, disaster, disaster! Oh, what was Jan to do?

She couldn't get away from the fears that assailed her-new home, new school, canoe trip catastrophe. All this on top of losing her best friend.

How can Jan (or Jantastic as she liked to be called) live without her best friend-Gaston. Moving for Mom's new job meant her friends were left behind. Jan was devastated. Only Gaston, her donkey, understood her-she spent hours, deep in conversation with him. Yes-she could talk to animals, but no one else could. What were they to do when she left? The Quackers were losing ducklings daily, but she wouldn't be there to quack the case. A Duck Disaster for sure.

Moving to the new farm has new challenges to face. Life-stretching tests that cause Jan to grow as she seeks out a new source of power. Faith in God. Would it prove to be better than donkey-love? Would this new faith be strong enough to face the Disaster that lay just around the bend?

In Disaster! Around the Bend, author P. Lynn Halliday has written a fun book where Jan and the reader learn how important it is to trust God when troubles come-for God is our refuge and our strength, a very present help in trouble. (Psalm 46:1)

P. Lynn Halliday grew up in Mississauga, Ontario, and graduated from the University of Toronto as a pharmacist in 1978. She and her husband, Robert, moved to Northern Ontario to fulfill the dream of living and working in a rural northern environment. Here they spent their leisure time paddling, kayaking, and hiking the wilderness of the north. Along the way, they became farmers and the parents of three children, who enjoyed the fun and education of raising horses, sheep, goats, chickens, ducks, and a donkey. The education brought Lynn closer to the Lord, as she saw his handiwork through her professional work, farm, and family. She has had some eye-opening adventures that have shown her how powerful, merciful, and interested God is in the lives of ordinary people. Her books reflect these adventures and life experiences. Lynn has published four books. Stuck on the Rocks, Again and Finding His Way are nonfiction. Scruffy Finds His Way and SuperScruff are part of the Goat Tails fictional series. All of Lynn's books are designed to show the impact of God in the life journey of ordinary people. She wants everyone to know God is alive and active in the lives of all of us and that he made us for a divinely chosen purpose.
