Discerning God’s Call is provides a comprehensive program for those discerning a call to spiritual direction in the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius, 19th Annotation. This book provides instruction and meeting agendas for each month of a Spiritual Exercises retreat, from September through May, along with ethical guidelines. It also includes monthly homework.
Using the agendas for the monthly meetings, discerners and trainers have an orderly way to proceed through the Spiritual Exercises material. It includes methods for listening to God more clearly, as individuals and hones group discernment abilities. Author Ellen Tomaszewski has been directing people through he Spiritual Exercises in Everyday Life (SEEL) of St. Ignatius in connection with the Jesuits (Oregon then West Province) since 1989, and has been the coordinator of the Spiritual Exercises in Everyday Life (SEEL) program in her area since 1998. She loves Ignatian Spirituality and feels called to help people discover God’s mercy and deep love through prayer and spiritual direction.

Ellen Tomaszewski has been a spiritual director with the Spiritual Exercises in Everyday Life since 1988. She has been SEEL Tri-Cities Director of the Work for over 20 years, and has written several other books including Taking the Exercises to the World, a manual for group meetings of the Spiritual Exercises, as well as the Preparation Days Retreat three-book set, Supervision, Method and Practice. One of her current projects, Infant of Prague Imprint, focuses on very young children's books. The first two in the series are Articles at Mass in both hard binding and board book version.
