A Disciple's Path Program Kit

Present a unique and engaging approach to the study of discipleship within the context of the Wesleyan/United Methodist heritage and tradition. Written and tested by James A. Harnish and Justin LaRosa with the discipleship team of Hyde Park United Methodist Church in Tampa, Florida, and shared with congregations of a variety of sizes and demographics, this dynamic and engaging study serves as the perfect introduction for new member classes or a refresher course for seasoned church members desiring to take the next step in discipleship. It also may be used by groups in a church-wide emphasis on discipleship.

Combining a Wesleyan understanding of our growth in God’s love and grace with the time-tested practices of spiritual discipline as expressed in the membership vows to uphold the church with our presence, prayers, gifts, service, and witness, participants will discover the difference it makes to live out their commitment to Christ through membership in the United Methodist Church. They will learn that being a disciple means loving God and loving others, and they will be equipped to do that by discovering their unique gifts and becoming engaged in ministry that also brings transformation in their own hearts and lives through the love and grace of Jesus Christ.

The Program Kit contains all components necessary to assist leaders in conducting a successful study or congregational-wide program including the Companion Reader, the Daily Workbook, the Leader Guide with CD and a sample of each of the ancillary products.

Justin LaRosa is a licensed clinical social worker and Deacon who leads the new ministry of Hyde Park United Methodist Church in downtown Tampa, Florida. He served for eight years as the Minister of Discipleship, working with a team of leaders to facilitate the process of organizing, training, empowering, and supporting laypersons. Justin is co-author with James A. Harnish of A Disciple's Path and A Disciple's Heart.

The Rev. Dr. James A. Harnish retired after 43 years of pastoral ministry in the Florida Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church. He was the founding pastor of St. Luke’s United Methodist Church in Orlando and served for 22 years as the Senior Pastor of Hyde Park United Methodist Church in Tampa. He is the author of A Disciple’s Heart: Growing in Love and Grace, Earn. Save. Give. Wesley’s Simple Rules for Money, and Make a Difference: Following Your Passion and Finding Your Place to Serve. He was a consulting editor for The New Interpreter’s Dictionary of the Bible and a contributor to The Wesley Study Bible. He and his wife, Martha, have two married daughters and five grandchildren in Florida and South Carolina.
