Otherwise, clean, tight, hinges in order and very attractively printed.** The book concerns celestial time-keeping, i.e. the reading of the stars to determine the date. In particular, he became interested in the short-comings of the Julian Calendar. (Britain converted to the Gregorian Calendar in 1752. It was introduced in Italy by Pope Gregory in 1582.) ** English Author William Holder, D.D, (1616-1698) was Canon Residentiary of St. Paul's, London, and fellow of the Royal Society, a clergyman, mathematician and music theorist whose most notable work was his widely known 1694 publication, "A Treatise on the Natural Grounds and Principles of Harmony".
