Discourses on Some Parables of the New Testament

Discourses On Some Parables Of The New Testament by Charles Brierley Garside. This volume collects sermons preached during penitential seasons, focusing on the Prodigal Son, the Sower, and the Ten Virgins, among others. Drawing on Scripture, the author offers practical moral instruction, exploring sin, repentance, humility, and mercy. The exposition emphasizes how gifts from God can be perverted when misused, and how true conversion requires honest self-examination, decisive renunciation of sin, and trust in divine forgiveness. Throughout, Garside urges Christians to align time, talents, and possessions with God’s will, beware of the world’s distractions, and cultivate a living faith that animates conduct, prayer, and charity. The Preface explains a straightforward, pastoral aim rather than scholarly critique, inviting readers to interior reflection, spiritual growth, and readiness for Christ’s coming.
