Page are clean and intact except for light age toning, former owner's gift inscription, and light to moderate darkening limited to edges of text block. A compilation of histories about the travels of Christopher Columbus and other European explorers to and in the Americas. Edited by Henry P. Dunster. Dunster's compilation begins with Columbus's four voyages to the Americas. Brief biographies about other explorers such as Ponce de Leon, Diego Velasquez, and Francis Hernandez are included. The book proceeds to describe the explorations of British explorers to the Americas. Some of the British explorers discussed are John Cabot, Sir Francis Drake, Sir Walter Raleigh, Charles Leigh, Robert Harcourt, Captain Keymis, Captain Newport, John Robinson, Hudson, and Leonard Calvert. Also included are a concise sketch of the formation of the Hudson's Bay Company, accounts of interactions between European explorers and Indigenous Peoples, and descriptions of the numerous English settlements established in North America.
