From the Author:

PROLOGUEI wrote this book as a means of sharing the insights I have been privileged to witness, experience and muse upon over the last 4 decades. The sum total of my life bears many scars and many joys. All of these groundings in social etiquette and human understanding were borne from ignorance, study and imitation.

The pains and insecurities I experienced by being discriminated upon, and the discriminating eye I have levied upon others have more often than not been the result of illusionary perceptions of what - should be without any regard for what might be.

It took me a while to understand that I am a piece of a grand masterpiece. I yearn for others to know me better, but I must first set the example of knowing myself better, and others. The old adage... no one cares how much you know, until they know how much you care... is so true.

People have beautiful gifts to offer. Being ridiculed, ostracized, discounted or just plain old ignored for whatever reason are painful human practices that breed loneliness, and contempt. Discrimination is pervasive in our society cleverly cloaked by private agendas, cliques, traditions and above all... the intangible thoughts hidden deep within our minds.

After many years, I fully understand the value, complexity, novelty and beauty that are so cleverly disguised within the term - Diversity. This book compiles so many facets of our human kind into one reference source. Because of the extensive science, facts and lore... one may get overwhelmed, although I encourage ALL to make the journey through all chapters as a picture will unfold highlighting your own personal beauty in ways you had not fully appreciated before. Simultaneously however, the reader will find revealing blemishes and hypocrisy that too many of us exude subliminally.

I would suggest that all readers begin by looking at the Table of Contents first... all topics, so you may understand the journey. For those who want to extract a quick injection of insight... please read the 1st chapter entitled Introduction and read the last chapter entitled Pulling It All Together which by most accounts violates the protocol on how any book should be read. I do give you permission though to see the beginning and the end first to understand the journey in between. The last chapter synthesizes all of the material within the book. Giving you this material upfront though... is meaningless without understanding the facts that support the conclusions. The first two sections Discrimination and Diversity are to be viewed as reference materials.

The last section is the most important. In the Inclusion section you have a multitude of tools, tips and suggestions that will help you develop a magnetic personality that so many of us clamor to have, experience and see. The Paying It Forward and the Pulling It All Together are my favorite chapters. They encapsulate the need, and the potential, inherent in all of us!

I hope to meet you sometime, someplace. Enrique Ruiz (humandiversity.biz)
