Publicada en 1637, esta obra del fil�sofo franc�s Ren� Descartes (1596-1650) marca el inicio del pensamiento racional moderno. En “El discurso del m�todo”, Descartes propone una forma de conocimiento basada en la raz�n y en la duda met�dica, resumida en su c�lebre m�xima: “Pienso, luego existo” (Cogito ergo sum). Con ella, el autor sienta las bases de un nuevo sistema filos�fico que rompe con la tradici�n escol�stica y aristot�lica de la Edad Media, abriendo paso a la autonom�a del pensamiento cient�fico. Adem�s de su relevancia te�rica, el texto es tambi�n una especie de autobiograf�a intelectual, donde Descartes narra sus experiencias, viajes y reflexiones personales sobre la b�squeda de la verdad.
