Disease: Identification, Prevention and Control

This text presents current information about communicable and chronic diseases and their histories from a nonclinical point of view. Because communicable disease and chronic disease are discussed in separate units, the student is able to focus on the two types of disease processes. Including an overview of the principles of disease occurrence and of the body's defenses, this text provides details and stimulating information regarding the body's vulnerability to disease.

Dr. Hamann recently retired as Coordinator of Academic Programs in Health at the UW-Superior and has a PhD from the University of Minnesota in School Health Education with a minor in Public Health. She has over 30 years of experience teaching health education and introduced a course at the UW – Superior on infectious and non-infectious diseases for students who are going into education, corporate health promotion or Community Health.
